師公葉問 (Sigung Ip Man 1893-1972)

Brief History Lesson:

(Meaning you can search online for the Long Version or watch the Movie Ip Man- The first one, and do note, the movie does have some made up parts.)

It all began by my Sigung Ip Man who Introduced 詠春拳 (Wing Chun) to Hong Kong in the 1950’s. He then taught many students from 1950’s up until his passing in 1972), most notably Bruce Lee and my Sifu Wong Shun Leung (also known as the person who loved to Beimo- challenge matches against other Chinese Martial Arts Schools)

師父黃淳樑 (Sifu Wong Shun Leung 1935-1997)

Sifu Wong Shun Leung,

began learning Wing Chun 詠春拳 from Ip Man in 1953 and officially opened his first school in May of 1969. He taught from 1969 to his sudden unfortunate passing in 1997. He had many students (many of whom are amazing sifus of their own now) and I happened to be one of his student. (The long version can be found by watching the documentary: Wong Shun Leung: The King of Talking Hands) Produced by my Sihing, David Peterson at: www.wingchunillustrated.com/videos-on-demand

So what is VT Mark Wong?

To put it bluntly, it is my understanding of Ving Tsun under the blue print of Wong Shun Leung Ving Tsun Kuen Hok, and making the skill work based on my personality, body size and agility; which means: understanding personal space and distance, attacking as a way of defense and using the most direct, simple and effective method to finish a physical conflict as fast as I can and get out in one piece. (Translation- Punch first, Punch Fast, Punch Hard, and escape to be able to see your family)

Note: No, I don’t teach knife defense or defense against guns. Sorry I don’t teach people unrealistic skills to get themselves killed.
